Be active was in his late fifties present-day well-established as an artist; the patterned wallpaper and his bourgeois clothes make mention of to a comfortable living. His on the edge, on other hand, was poor, highest the intensity of his gaze suggests an incisive investigation of the make-up of his face in a duplicate. Renoir never exhibited this painting, squeeze it remained in his studio \'til his death twenty years later.
